Data Sharing & Analytical Platform Evaluation

An international child protection agency sought to develop a cross-stakeholder data-collaboration initiative in Australia. The project aimed to evaluate and recommend options for a data sharing and advanced analytical platform to help identify and disrupt potential payments for online child sexual exploitation (OSEC).

The Challenge

The primary challenge was to implement a platform that would enable banks, the financial payments industry, and law enforcement to share data securely and effectively. This platform needed to support advanced analytics to reduce the volume of commercial OSEC crimes while meeting complex stakeholder requirements and data protection standards.

The Solution

Merakāta evaluated and recommended three options for a collaborative analytics data sharing platform. These options ranged from a minimal two-product solution to a fully customized solution developed by major cloud computing platforms such as AWS and Azure. Each recommendation was aligned with stakeholder requirements and designed to create a comprehensive set of technology capabilities.

The Results

The evaluation report provided our client with well-defined options to support funding requests and initiate the request for proposal process. This laid the groundwork for implementing a chosen solution design, advancing our client’s mission to protect children using advanced analytics on shared financial and law enforcement data.
